Who Am I?

I’m a family man who is married to Elaine and a proud Dad to Jake and Grace who have now flown the nest and settled in Australia and France respectively.  I’m a veteran who thoroughly enjoyed a 27-year career in the Physical Education Branch of the Royal Air Force and where I was fortunate enough to pursue my passion for the development of people through every role I had.  I am very proud of my second career and the 10 years I spent as a senior operational leader at a large veterans’ charity, and now in my third, and probably final career, I am enjoying running my own business and being an associate with PPWD.

I live on the outskirts of Sherwood Forest where I love to walk and get out on my bike, and in the winter I can think of no better place to be than on a pair of skis.  I love music and am enjoying the renaissance in vinyl and getting out to see artists live when I can.

Why do I do what I do, what’s my purpose?

I enjoy the thought of developing people to succeed on their chosen path and to contribute to their learning to place them ahead of where those in my generation were at any given point.  In my very different careers in both the military and the 3rd Sectors I found myself in leadership positions where I was able to create amazing environments for people to thrive and grow and this aspect of my work has provided immense personal satisfaction.

How do I do it?

My primary focus has always been on people and their well-being, and I like to empower individuals to thrive by cultivating environments that nurture their growth and potential.  Helping to make the link between theory and practice is an important part of the process to get to understanding, learning and sensemaking.  In my work with PPWD I aim to encourage open communication, empathy and deep understanding of how being safe is a physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual commitment.
